Artist and Civil Engineering Technician | 5 Years in Solano
In a world that’s becoming hyper-urbanized, we must preserve and protect our undeveloped lands that are becoming more and more scarce (especially in the bay area). Our existing urban landscapes are being neglected and falling into disrepair. We already have dense, walkable cities that could be improved upon. I’m a city girl through and through, born and raised in San Francisco, the second most dense city in America. I believe we should all have the choice to live in the environment that best suits us (whether urban or rural). But this does not necessitate turning open pastures and environmental habitats into more urban sprawl. It’s bad for the environment – no amount of solar panels will alleviate the harm to the environment that urban sprawl causes. And it will lead to the same tech gentrification repercussions that have plagued SF and the rest of the bay area and have pushed artists like myself out of the communities we have lived in for decades. And it’s foolish to spend so much effort re-creating what already exists. Expand Bart and public transportation to connect our existing communities in the Bay Area. Create more infill housing. Create affordable housing. Half of the condos in SF and Oakland are vacant because no one can afford them. And there are 1.2 million vacant homes and apartments in California alone. The “East Solano Plan” makes no sense to anyone who lives in the bay area… Except to the tech billionaires scheming for another profit motive that will be to our detriment. Stop the Billionaire Techie experiment that is Californiaforever Forever. Stop the “East Solano” initiative. – Artists Against Billionaires instagram.com/@artistsagainstbillionaires
