The ecosystem in the area will be irreparably harmed by this project. Water availability will become an issue. Water will eventually need to be brought in from outside of the area, as the existing aquifer will be drained. Water prices will skyrocket, as a result. Pollution will definitely worsen as the projected 400,000 residents occupy the area. No guarantee that businesses/factories will not be releasing toxic materials into the area. The already busy highways will become choked with traffic as the population increases. This will lead to increased times to get from point A to point B, as well as auto emissions, adding to the greenhouse effect. Crime will increase, as you cannot put 400,000 people in an area and expect them all to abide by the law. We, the taxpayers, are going to be expected to pay for all of the infrastructure, schools, hospitals, etc. Most of us are barely surviving now, as it is, without having added financial burdens placed upon us. Apartments will be selling for $400,000, and homes priced at $1,000,000. This is not at all relatively affordable for most folks.
